“Hey Aditi wait”…
His head turns around as he hears the name ’ADITI’… His eyes wander to get glance of Aditi… “Tut”, Vinod nods his head and turns towards his table.
ADITI… 5.6’’ tall… Athletic build… Average complexion… Always spotted in a Levis jean and polo tees…
‘Why don’t you make a call and speak to her?’ a voice interrupts his vision. It was Madhu; she places the two cups of coffee on the table and takes her seat opposite to him. ‘When you can’t even resist turning around when you hear her name, why don’t you call her and speak?’
‘She will not answer my call, it’s been a year and I haven’t found any signs from her end. She has moved on’, a weird reply from Vinod. Madhu tries to convince him with usual questions like, ‘What if she too thinks just like you? , ‘What if she still awaits your call?’, etc… He is not moved. He stands in his point. He had known Aditi for almost four years and believes he knows about her completely and now the separation for almost a year meant nothing to her. He is damn sure that she has forgotten him and moved on. Amidst these thoughts he manages to recall about small incidents that were still fresh in his thoughts. As he speaks Madhu finds happiness in his voice and he blushes each time when he mentions Aditi’s name.
‘Give a thought on calling her, your life will change’, reassures Madhu as she gets down the car and bids bye to Vinod. He smiles and drives away…
Madhu thinks about how Vinod normally convinces people to his way. Being in sales profession, it was his greatest asset. But personally, at many a time he had convinced himself of being something else, which he actually wasn’t. So far, it had been for good. For growth. For self grooming. But this time, it wasn’t for good. He had convinced his ego to be right. She strongly wanted to break it out.
A week later.
It was a party evening at a colleague’s place. The colleague being the ‘Sales Head’, it was unavoidable and all had gathered. Including the ever resistant Vinod.
“Hey Aditi…”, calls Nisha (Vinod’s Colleague)…
Vinod’s head swings in the direction of the voice, as a reflex and turns back. He wants to reassure what he saw and turns again in the same direction just to see Aditi, His very own Aditi.
Equally surprised Aditi stares back with a glow.
And fades back when she finds Vinod turn back and move on.
Madhu who had managed to get them both meet on this occasion, pulls him around and makes them both speak. Initially anger flows out; rage, complaints, tears, tears of joy, compassion & love follow on… Since that day, ‘They were together happily ever after’…..
