The 5am Club by Robin Sharma

Review and Snippets:

The book is set on a fiction ground where an entrepreneur and artist are taken through a transformation phase by their mentor. While reading we will be relating easily to either of them and their mindset that’s seeking growth. Lengthy part though. We need to skim through to get into actual takeaways.

The author lists various techniques to help us move out of our comfort zone and impart new habits that aids in transforming our lives to world class.

What kind of habits should we develop–

The 4 focus of history makers:
1. Capitalisation IQ – intelligently exploiting whatever primal gifts you’ve been given.

2. Freedom from Distraction- An addiction to distraction is the death of your creative production.

3. Personal Mastery Practice – Training the best part of you.
4 Interior Empires – Mindset, Heartset, Healthset, Soulset

4. Day Stacking – daily personal and professional optimizations

He insists on using the Victory Hour of the day 5am to 6am to cultivate new habits onto our life. Consistency is the key.

How to develop new habits–

To Start a new habit we can taken through the below ways:
1.Trigger – a trigger to start the habit everyday. An alarm to wake up at 5am that doesn’t have a snooze option.

2.Ritual – something you practice to do when you wake up everyday like a small warm-up exercise.

3.Reward – like sleeping early to compromise the early hours.

4.Repeat – consistency in doing the above.

Followed by the Habit Arc, we are taken through the Habit Installation Protocol – Described in 3 stages(22 days each)
* Deconstruction Stage – rise above your own force of gravity
* Installation Stage – interior renovation
* Integration Stage – making habit part of ourselves/our routine.

Next is the 20-20-20 Formula to effectively utilise Victory Hour. Move – Reflect- Grow.

The above is a very brief snippet. The author takes through each step with utmost care and explains scientifically the changes that we will be happening to our thought process when we start implementing these techniques.

If you have taken steps towards progression and change, this book is for you. It’ll be a guide to do what you need to do.
